About Yalla Language Training

Founded in Addis Ababa, Yalla was built with a single purpose — to ensure that no worker crosses a border without the language and confidence to succeed.

Who We Are

Yalla Language Training Center was established to address one of the most overlooked challenges facing Ethiopian domestic workers abroad — the language barrier. Every year, thousands of workers travel to Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region without the tools to communicate effectively, leaving them vulnerable and isolated in the workplace.

We exist to change that. Through our multilingual e-books, structured video courses, and real-time translation support, we give every learner the practical language skills they need before they arrive — and the ongoing support they need once they are there.

What Drives Us

Our Core Values

Everything we build, teach, and support is rooted in these principles.

Empathy First

We design every course with the real lived experience of our learners in mind — workers who are navigating unfamiliar environments far from home.

Dignity & Safety

Language is protection. When a worker can communicate clearly, they can advocate for themselves, understand their rights, and stay safe.

Cultural Respect

Our content honours the backgrounds of both learner and employer, building bridges — not just vocabulary — between cultures.

Practical Impact

We focus on what workers actually need to say on day one — greetings, household instructions, safety phrases — not textbook theory.

Community

We serve agencies, employers, and workers together, creating a shared language ecosystem that benefits every side of the relationship.

Continuous Growth

Our content is regularly updated based on feedback from workers in the field, ensuring relevance in a changing world.

What We Teach

Four languages. One goal — clear, confident communication in the workplace.

🇸🇦

Arabic

The primary language of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Our Arabic programme focuses on spoken household Arabic, employer instructions, and everyday workplace phrases — not formal Modern Standard Arabic.

Core Language
🇬🇧

English

An essential bridge language for workers dealing with international households, agencies, and documentation. Our English content covers practical communication from beginner level upward.

Bridge Language
🇪🇹

Amharic

As the official language of Ethiopia and the native tongue of the majority of our learners, all our courses are available with full Amharic explanations and subtitles for maximum clarity.

Native Support
🇪🇹

Afan Oromo

Spoken by the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia, Afan Oromo support ensures that Oromo-speaking workers are never left behind. Our content and translation tools are fully bilingual.

How We Teach

We do not believe in one-size-fits-all education. Our platform combines three complementary learning tools — structured e-books, immersive video lessons, and live translation support — so every learner can find the method that works best for them.

01

Multilingual E-Books

Structured lessons with audio, visuals, and exercises — downloadable and available offline for learners in areas with limited connectivity.

02

Video Training Courses

Short, scenario-based video lessons showing real household and workplace situations. Learners hear and see the language in context.

03

Real-Time Translation Tool

A live translation interface for Arabic, English, Amharic, and Afan Oromo — with voice output — giving workers instant support on the job.

Our Audience

Domestic Workers

Workers preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf who need Arabic language skills, cultural orientation, and practical household vocabulary before departure.

Recruitment Agencies

Licensed Ethiopian recruitment agencies who want to send better-prepared, more confident candidates — reducing complaints and improving placement success rates.

Employers Abroad

Saudi and Gulf households who want a translation tool that lets them communicate daily instructions clearly and respectfully with their domestic staff.
